Mask Series: Coming Together at the Seams
While recovering from a surgery at the end of 2021, Julia discovered the therapeutic potential of creating mask art. Guided by an inner knowing, she unrolled a large painting in progress, sliced it into thin strips, sewed the pieces together with a zigzag stitch, cut them into intricate shapes, and adhered them to paper masks in a mosaic fashion.
In 2022, Mask 7 was selected for the Manhattan Arts International's annual HerStory exhibition, curated by Renée Phillips, Founder/Director of Manhattan Arts International.
